Honey & Onion Cough Syrup

This recipe for Honey & Onion Cough Syrup should be considered as a preventative measure to help strengthen you immune system. If you are suffering from dry or productive cough, please check in with your provider for appropriate treatment to avoid chronic cough.

1. Chop the onions

2. Drizzle the raw honey over them

3. Add layers of onion and honey until the GLASS jar is full

4. Warm it up in hot water for 10 min

5. Let it sit in the fridge for about 10 hours

6. Shelf life is about 1 week when refrigerated

At the onset of symptoms: Take ½-1 teaspoon (2.5 – 5 milliliters) of Honey & Onion Cough Syrup every 1-2 hours.

Treating an active cough: 1 teaspoon (5 milliliters) 3-4 times per day until you have recovered.

Benefits of onion:

  • Onion is high in sulfur compounds (as is garlic), which has been shown to help with a variety of health issues
  • Onion is an expectorant – it helps clear mucus, which is common with a cough
